Multiple LRMP Payload for ER-GMLRS and PrSM Emerges TurDef

General Atomics has unveiled another option for its LRMP glide munition, initially developed for 155 mm howitzers as a sub-munition for PrSM and ER-GMLRS.

Naval News reported that General Atomics, shortly after it tested the LRMP gliding munition from a M777 howitzer, has unveiled its plans for a cargo payload with multiple LRMPs intended for ER-GMLRS artillery rocket and PrSM ballistic missile.

According to the presentation from General Atomics, ER-GMLRS, with a larger diameter than GMLRS rockets, can carry three LRMPs. This means up to three targets can be struck with a configurable flight path at ranges of approximately 200 km (Considering the ballistic half of flight for the 150 km ranged GMLRS ER and LRMP’s range of 120 km from 155 mm howitzers).

Considering the diameter difference, PrSM with a range of 499+ km on its own might be able to carry at least five or six LRMPs.

LRMP’s optical guidance with self-navigation capabilities might not only enable strikes on softer point targets but also engagement of enemy ships. It is no secret that the US has been pursuing anti-ship capabilities for its MLRS systems.
