Nurol Unveils All-Electric eNMS-L 4x4 Tactical Vehicle

Nurol Makina unveiled the new member of the NMS 4x4 tactical wheeled vehicle family as the all-electric eNMS-L 4x4 during the IDEF25 defence exhibition.

eNMS-L is the demonstrator for an all-electric drive system based on the NMS-L, featuring a flatbed section to mount various payloads. Instead of an internal combustion engine, eNMS-L is powered by four 40 kW electric engines for each wheel.

TurDef learned that eNMS-L can currently reach a range of 200 km, and this can be extended by another 200 km if the flatbed section is fitted with hydrogen fuel cells to generate electrical power.

While the range of eNMS-L is considerably shorter than NMS-L, it should be noted that all-electric powerpacks are still maturing, especially in terms of energy density to yield more acceptable ranges. Currently, hybrid powerpacks are seen as a closer goal as they use the long-lasting internal combustion engines as generators, with an all-electric “silent” mode being available
