Otokar’s TULPAR Armoured Fighting Vehicle on Brazil’s List TurDef

TULPAR tracked armoured vehicle is reportedly on the table for Brazil’s next-generation infantry fighting vehicle acquirement programme in IFV configuration.

Tecnologia & Defesa Editor Paulo Roberto Bastos Jr. shared his visit to the Sakarya testing facility of Otokar to observe the tracked vehicle and stated that Tulpar is on Brazil’s options table for new armoured vehicles.

European Security and Defense reported that Brazil has launched a tender to acquire new tracked IFVs in January 2025.

TULPAR in IFV configuration is fitted with the MIZRAK remote-controlled turret that can be armed with a Mk44 30x173 mm chain gun or the Russian 2A42 30x165 mm autocannon. However, other turret options are possible per the customer’s request.

The armoured vehicle offers a range of equipment options. Depending on requirements, either one of 700 hp or 1100 hp diesel engines can be used. The weight envelope of TULPAR is between 28 and 45 tonnes, and it has a diverse range of armour packages and armaments.

Another possible customer for TULPAR is Bangladesh, with interested in TULPAR’s new light tank configuration created in cooperation with Italian Leonardo. The configuration is armed with the HITFACT MKII 120 mm L45 turret, providing firepower rivalling an MBT.
