Otokar Secures Romanian 4X4 Tender

Otokar announced at KAP that it signed today the 4x4 Light Armoured Tactical Vehicles tender with the Romanian Defence Ministry Company C. N. Romtehnica S.A.
Otokar, which attended the Romanian Defence Ministry’s 4x4 Light Armoured Tactical Vehicles tender, secured the contract. Otokar proposed COBRA II 4X4 to Romania. 

The Turkish Company signed a 4.263.286.655,66 RON (Romanian Leu) excluding VAT contract to manufacture 1059 4x4 Light Armored Tactical Wheeled Vehicles and some integrated logistics support services. The first 278 vehicles will be produced in Otokar facilities, the rest of which will be produced in Romania in a structure to be determined in the future. 

Otokar made the following statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP); “In the material event disclosure we made on 20.03.2024, it was shared with the public that our Company submitted a bid for the tender for the purchase of 4x4 Light Armoured Tactical Vehicles which opened by Romanian Ministry of National Defence’s Company C. N. Romtehnica S.A. (Romtehnica). It was also disclosed to the public on 4.10.2024 that, following the completion of the technical evaluation, field tests and commercial evaluation processes, the official invitation letter for the contract signature was sent to our Company by the tender authority.
At this stage, the contract negotiations have been concluded positively, and a contract was signed between our Company and Romtehnica on behalf of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense on 27.11.2024.
Under the contract amounting to 4.263.286.655,66 RON (Romanian Leu) excluding VAT, there are a total of 1.059 4x4 Light Armored Tactical Wheeled Vehicles and some integrated logistics support services, and the first 278 vehicles will be produced in Otokar facilities, the rest of which will be produced in Romania in a structure to be determined in the future. “ TurDef calculates the tender amounts with a current exchange rate of approximately $ 895 million.


Within the project’s scope, Otokar’s direct revenues are envisaged to consist of revenues such as disassembled kit and parts sales, some integrated logistics support services, and vehicle exports from Türkiye, which may vary depending on the structure to be determined in the future.
The related deliveries will be completed within five years in batches starting in the last quarter of 2025.Moreover, a letter of guarantee of up to approximately 2 billion RON (Romanian leu), excluding VAT, will be delivered to the tender authority on different dates as a guarantee for Otokar’s obligations under the contract and the advance to be collected.

Since Otokar designed the COBRA II 4X4 as a modular platform, it can be developed to suit different tasks. Added to the Otokar product family in 2013, COBRA II has been designed and produced in more than 30 different versions in line with its users' requests and needs. The COBRA II, which was submitted to tender, was also specially developed according to the technical and tactical features requested by Romania.
