Patria and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace have agreed on the delivery of remote weapon stations for armoured vehicles procured under the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, supporting orders placed by Sweden and Germany.
Under the agreement, Kongsberg will supply its PROTECTOR RS4 Remote Weapon Station (RWS), which will be integrated by Patria onto the CAVS 6×6 vehicles. The contract covers several hundred weapon stations, with a total value of approximately EUR 140 million. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2030, with the agreement also including potential follow-on orders as the programme expands.
The PROTECTOR RS4 configuration selected for the CAVS vehicles features multi-calibre weapon support, advanced electro-optical sensors and growth potential for future upgrades, including counter-UAS capabilities. The system is intended to provide a common, interoperable solution across participating armed forces.
Patria stated that adopting a shared weapon station configuration across CAVS member nations improves interoperability, logistics efficiency and long-term sustainment. Kongsberg noted that the agreement reinforces the RS4’s position as the standard remote weapon station within the CAVS fleet and strengthens industrial cooperation with European partners.
The CAVS programme, led by Patria, aims to deliver a common 6×6 armoured vehicle platform through multinational cooperation. Current member nations include Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Norway. The programme is designed to combine shared standards with local industrial participation across Europe.
