LG-155 155 mm laser-guided artillery ammunition will be exhibited for the first time at SAHA EXPO 2024, which will be held in Istanbul.
After the MDK distance correction kit as the plug-and-play solution for existing artillery rounds, ROKETSAN will debut the new LG-155 laser-guided round for higher precision and the engagement of moving targets.
Thus, FIRTINA 155 mm SPHs will gain the capability to engage armoured vehicles and point targets as long as there are means for laser designation (Infantry or UAVs)
Laser-guided artillery rounds are developed from scratch and feature an airframe meant to perform sharper manoeuvres compared to GPS-INS correction kits, thanks to larger fins. A notable example of this type is the Kransopol-M round used by Russia, which managed to hit armoured vehicles in Ukraine.
ROKETSAN will also debut the laser-guided version of OMTAS medium-range ATGM, L-OMTAS, as a cheaper alternative. While IIR guidance onboard the baseline OMTAS offers the luxury of fire-and-forget, it is considerably more expensive due to the seeker.
ROKETSAN's PUSU on-turret weapon system, which allows pickup trucks to fire the CİRİT 70 mm laser-guided missiles, will also be on display. PUSU, before its naming, was first spotted in July during a Nigerian delegation's visit.
PUSU's launcher carries one quad CİRİT pod, and the vehicle has an ASELSAN KARAKURT EO/IR system for targeting. PUSU will be the lower-cost alternative for the KMC pedestal-mounted weapon system with a more minimal approach and abundant platform type.
