It was announced that Spain will provide a Indra LTR-25 long-range early warning radar to Ukraine on the official website of the Spanish Council of Ministers.
Spain is set to contribute to long-range air surveillance of Ukraine with one unit of Indra LTR-25 Lanza early warning radar for a contract valued at €37 million, including maintenance/logistics support. The contract is expected to be formalised by the end of 2026.
Alongside the radars for long-range air defence systems like MIM-104 Patriot and SAMP/T, LTR-25 will be one of the longest-reaching radars in Ukraine’s inventory.
Developed by the Spanish firm Indra, LTR-25 is an L-band long-range early warning radar which can be deployed by trucks or transported with medium cargo aircraft (E.g C-130) thanks to its folding structure. The radar with a phased array antenna and a rotational speed between 5 RPM and 12 RPM can detect targets at ranges up to 450 km. Targets for LTR-25 include aircraft and tactical ballistic missiles.
Due to compiling with the NATO standard, LTR-25 can be connected to the Western-supplied air defence systems used by Ukraine easily, which is important as a support for the the long-range ones mentioned earlier.
