Czech Tatra has put its 3rd generation Tatra Force 6x6 armoured truck with ASELSAN’s KORKUT air defence system during the IDET2025 defence exhibition.
Display of Tatra Force 3rd generation with additional armour in the IDET2025 defence exhibition, being held in the Czech Republic, hints at another potential export.
This is the first time the KORKUT air defence system is being exhibited on a truck platform. So far, the system has been mounted on FNSS’s ACV AD (formerly known as ACV-30) tracked armoured vehicle, Otokar’s ARMA 8x8, and Emirati Calidus Wahash 8x8.
Chances are: there might be an interest from the Czech Republic on KORKUT, but in a truck that it manufactures, or another export customer has requested a 35 mm SPAAG that uses a truck instead of armoured fighting vehicles.
KORKUT SPAAG
KORKUT was developed to provide gun-based air defence against not only low-flying aircraft and helicopters but also X-to-surface missiles and UAVs for both static and mobile units.
The SPAAG first mounted on ACV AD tracked vehicle of FNSS (Also used for the mobile HİSAR-A low altitude air defence system), uses a pair of 35 mm revolver cannons fitted with a programmer for ATOM 35 mm airburst ammunition and AKREP 100-G fire control radar with optics.
ATOM 35 mm is an integral part of KORKUT’s firepower as it dramatically increases the chances of hit by spreading pellets after the programmed time mark is reached. As the round exits the barrel, the fire control system programs each round based on the target’s statistics from sensors.
KORKUT best operates as part of a pack, which includes multiple SPAAGs and the command/radar vehicle performing both coordination and detection and using the KALKAN 200-G (MAR) searching radar, providing a wider situational awareness.
