The Netherlands Acquires AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II

The State Department has approved a prospective Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Netherlands for AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II Missiles worth $691 million. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) provided the necessary certification, informing Congress of the probable sale. 

The Netherlands has requested 246 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles, six AIM-9X Sidewinder captive air training missiles (CATM), two AIM-9X Sidewinder special air training missiles, 14 AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder tactical guidance units, and two AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder CATM guidance units. 

The scheme will cost $691 million in total. The major contractor is RTX Corporation.
