Thunderbolt 40/70 T Naval Gun Completes First Firing Test TurDef

Koca Savunma shared the video of SAVER’s Thunderbolt 40/70 T 40 mm naval gun in its first firing test, as the contractor for electronics and software.

Thunderbolt 40/70 T, set to serve as the substitute for DARDO 40 mm naval guns, has performed its first firing test. During the test, the Thunderbolt 40/70 T prototype demonstrated high elevation and rapid fire. The naval gun was first revealed during the SAHA EXPO 2022 exhibition and is intended for fast attack craft in use.

SAVER is working with ASELSAN for the integration of a 40 mm Bofors ATOM airburst munition and HAVELSAN to integrate the Thunderbolt 40/70 family with the ships’ combat management systems.

In addition to the 40/70 T, work is ongoing for the single-barreled 40/70 SB variant, which requires no decweapk penetration as its magazine is located on the turret instead of under the deck.
