Turkish Land Forces Commander-in-Chief Visits Pakistan

General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Commander-in-Chief of Turkish Land Forces, has visited the Pakistani Army General Headquarters. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu visited and held a meeting with Pakistani General Syed Asim Munir and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in the General Headquarters located in Chakala. The meeting discussed matters of mutual interest and further measures to enhance bilateral defence cooperation. COAS further emphasized the need to strengthen the existing military-to-military cooperation between the two Armed Forces. Turkiye and Pakistan have long-standing military cooperation, which has recently expanded to the defence industry. Some examples include Pakistan’s acquisition of Baykar’s armed UAV/UCAV platforms, Turkiye’s use of Pakistani Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, and joint development for air-to-air missile technologies. From time to time, this cooperation has been met with negative reactions from India, Pakistan’s main rival in the region. The most recent reaction of India was releasing an animation of Greece using BrahMos supersonic anti-ship missile against a Turkish warship, signalling an intention to provide Greece with the missiles to counteract Turkish support to Pakistan in terms of military equipment.
