U.S. Air Force tests Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW)

The U.S. Air Force tested its new Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW). The weapon was released from an F-16 Fighting Falcon over the Gulf of Mexico.

The 40th Flight Test Squadron of the United States Air Force conducted tests on the SiAW tactical air-to-surface missile system. The inert ammunition was released from the aircraft to test SiAW's safe separation from the aeroplane.

Northrop Grumman's SiAW missile is designed for Anti-Access/Area Denial (A2/AD) missions against cruise and anti-ship missile launchers and electronic jammer devices. SiAW is based on Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile-Extended Range (AARGM-ER). In September 2023, Northrop Grumman was awarded a $705 million contract to provide the SiAW missile system.
