The U.S. announced that it authorized a major arms sale to Israel, which includes FMTV, mortar, tank cartridges, AMRAAM and F-15 Jets. The sale totals $ 20 billion.
The U.S. State Department authorizes a proposed Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Israel of various ammunition, vehicles, missiles, and platforms. Israel will buy 50 F-15IA and F-15I+ aircraft and related equipment for an estimated cost of up to $18.82 billion.
It will also acquire 30 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related equipment for an estimated cost of $102.5 million.
The acquisition includes the purchase of M1148A1P2 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV)] and related equipment, estimated to cost $583.1 million.
Israel will have 50,000 M933A1 120mm High Explosive mortar cartridges and related equipment for an estimated cost of $61.1 million.
It will also acquire up to 32,739 120mm tank cartridges and related equipment for an estimated cost of $774.1 million.
It is known that Israel submitted a Letter of Request (LoR) in January 2023 to Washington to acquire 25 new, advanced F-15 fighter jets with the hope of doubling the order.
