The United Kingdom has convinced France to sell Meteor ramjet missiles to Turkiye. This step will allow the arming of Turkish Eurofighter jets with BVRAAMs.
Two sentences in Milliyet Newspaper writer Özay Şendir’s column contain important information about the Turkish Air Force. Şendir announced the latest developments with the following statement: “The latest information from the United Kingdom shows that another very difficult obstacle has been overcome. It shows that London has convinced Paris to sell Meteor missiles to Turkiye and that the Turkish-Greek balance will be re-balanced in the air.” Şendir included some of the technical features of the Meteor missile in this article, including information on the No-Escape Zone, and explained why it is important for the Turkish Air Force.

Meteor missiles are one of the most critical needs of modern air combat. These missiles stand out with their high speed and long-range No-Escape Zone (NEZ) features. It is stated that with the provision of the missiles, Turkiye’s Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets will be effectively used at full capacity.
Meteor is a cutting-edge Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) developed through joint efforts by countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden. The missile can reach a speed of over Mach 4 by providing continuous thrust with its solid-fuel ramjet engine. It also draws attention with its range exceeding 100 kilometres with 60 km NEZ.
According to Greek media, Hellenic Air Force will arm Rafale fighters with Meteor Missiles shortly.
