Slovakia Constitution Day is called 'Deň Ústavy Slovenskej republiky' and it commemorates the adoption of the Slovak constitution on September 1st 1992.

The creation of the constitution essentially ended the state of Czechoslovakia, resulting in the foundation of the Czech and Slovak republics on January 1, 1993.

On September 3, 1992, Speaker of the House Ivan Gašparovič (now President) and Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar signed the constitution at Bratislava Castle's Knights Hall. The constitution itself had to be hurried, and many portions are directly derived from Czechoslovakia's 1920 constitution.
