The adoption of the Uzbek state flag took place on November 18, 1991, and ever since then, it has served as an official national symbol for the republic. This represents a multicoloured rectangular cloth with three stripes of blue, white, and green running horizontally across it. All of the elements that make up the Uzbek flag are symbolic and reflect how the Uzbek people view the world. Additionally, they all have some relation to their historical and cultural heritage. The flag has a blue stripe, which represents the sky, water, and the traditional emblem of peace. Additionally, the blue stripe is a statement of historical continuity, as the flag of Amir Temur's state was also blue. The Uzbek people have a sense that the white line on the linen represents the colour of peace. This impression is represented even in the common Uzbek term "ok yul!" which translates to "go in peace!" In nations where Muslims make up most of the population, the colour green signifies the presence of nature, the beginning of fresh life, and abundance. The new half-moon depicts the republic's national independence and its connection with the people's historical past and the traditions they have preserved. Red lines represent the dynamic force. The banner also depicts twelve stars, which represent the twelve regions of the country and the old solar calendar.
