According to World Bank data, Turkiye’s defence budget was $20.6 billion in 2019, breaking a record. However, the budget decreased in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Turkiye’s defence budget will break the record in TL terms with 388 billion TL in 2023.

Although this corresponds to 21.3 billion dollars, for now, depending on the increase in the dollar exchange rate, the defence budget for 2023 is expected to be between 18 and 20 billion dollars.
