Underlining that Roketsan’s primary mission is to provide the systems that TAF requires, İkinci stated that they are trying to achieve excellent export success. İkinci said, “We have become a defence company that can generate more than 30 per cent of income from exports.“ İkinci stated that almost all export revenue is transferred to Roketsan’s equity and R&D projects.
İkinci said: “The more we export, the more we increase our speed by providing resources for the systems we have developed and the technologies we will develop. Roketsan closed the year 2022 with more success than we expected.” İkinci added, “We have already signed our agreement. We will see that this success will continue to increase rapidly in the next stages. The footprints and preliminary indicators show themselves in our contacts and contracts.”
İkinci provided information about the recent export deal to Indonesia. İkinci said, “We signed the contract for two major projects in Indonesia. One of them was signed for the export of the Khan weapon system, the export version of the Bora missile, one of the largest ballistic systems in our country. At the same time, to meet the air defence needs of the Indonesian Armed Forces, with the TriSula air defence system. TriSula is a new air defence system. Roketsan’s mission is to ensure the development of missiles that will be used for this air defence system. Roketsan is currently working on the development of these missiles. TriSula will be a project that will be completely unique to them. However, we are still negotiating about more products, especially in the Indonesian market. The needs of the Indo-Asian market, especially in that region, and the demands are rising fast. The reference we have gained here motivates us to rapidly increase Roketsan’s current market share in that region. We continue our work at full speed.”
Regarding the smart ammunition used in Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Murat İkinci said that with the increasing interest in Turkish Armed UAVs, the demand for Roketsan’s smart munitions has also increased. İkinci noted:“Roketsan is also rapidly increasing its production capacity to respond to this demand. Our investments are still continuing. Roketsan’s products are currently among the best product family in the world in smart ammunition. We are doing a lot of internal R&D projects to diversify these products, add additional capabilities to the products, and increase the capabilities of these products, which constitute the striking power of our Armed UAVs, to contribute to the operational capability of the Turkish Armed Forces. We realise all of these technologies here with our own engineers or with our business partners. With the contribution of many of our partners, Turkiye’s Armed UAVs have a worldwide reputation, as well as our ammunition that provides striking power to these Armed UAVs. It will also provide many opportunities to be a game changer in the world, especially to our armed forces and friendly and brotherly countries.
İkinci also gave information about their work for the laser-guided mini-missile system Mete. He said that Mete was the most miniature version of a guided missile. The Mete, which is very small, has a range of about one kilometre and weighs three kilogrammes, it can be launched from unmanned land and small unmanned aerial vehicles, and they are working with business partners who develop these vehicles.İkinci said: “We provide them with a laser-guided missile solution that is both cost-effective and flexible. Mete, the launcher, which can be integrated into different vehicles rather than being a laser-guided missile, will provide the ability to launch guided missiles on many platforms with its command-and-control infrastructure. This is a huge multiplier effect. We consider that bringing a technology that can hit a point target within 1 kilometre with such small ammunition to such unmanned platforms will pave the way for small platforms to be used on the battlefield as Armed. There have been trials with unguided ammunition before. It will be the first ammunition to be used by the forces. Mete’s tests are about to be completed. We will see it successfully on the battlefield as of 2023.”
