Turkish Defence Industry decisions are taken at the Defence Industry Executive Committee (SSİK), which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chairs. The SSİK meets according to the agenda and requirements. It met at least once every year. It last met on December 29, 2022. This year, no meeting was held with the new authorities.
Last year, the Minister of Defence was Hulusi Akar. Yaşar Güler was the chief of General Staff. Professor İsmail Demir was the President of the Defence Industry Agency (SSB). This year, Akar is replaced by Güler. General Metin Gürak is the new chief of General Staff. Professor Haluk Görgün, President and General Manager of ASELSAN, replaced Demir. SSB has five Vice Presidents.
On the other hand, most of the members have not met at SSİK. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, and Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır are in the position since the last election.
SSB Participation, Vice President of SSB Celal Sami Tüfekçi is now the deputy minister at the Defence Ministry. Former SSB Vice Presidents are replaced except Mustafa Murat Şeker. The new vice presidents are Professor Hakan Karataş, Gökhan Uçar, Professor İhsan Kaya and Hüseyin Avşar.
According to routines, the SSIK meets on Thursdays. Tomorrow is the last Thursday of 2023. If the SSIK does not mean tomorrow, the Thursday meeting routine will be broken. The SSIK will have three more days to meet in 2003 and to break the routine.
