AimLock, producing remote-controlled stations for different firearms and Teledyne FLIR, as the platform provider, will co-develop armed lightweight UGVs.
The cooperation between the two firms was announced after the DSEI UK 2025 exhibition. AimLock’s RS-2 modular RCWS for small arms and RM-1 RCWS for machine guns will be integrated on Teledyne FLIR’s SUGV 325 and Kobra 725 UGVs, respectively.
SUGV 325 is a small-sized UGV that can be carried inside a backpack for different missions like EOD and patrol. RS-2 RCWS to be integrated on SUGV 325 can carry two 40 mm revolving grenade launchers, four M72 LAW rocket launchers, light machine guns, and 12.7 mm semi‑automatic rifles. RS-2 was first integrated on multi-copter UAVs, rather than UGVs.
Kobra 725, as a larger UGV compared to SUGV 325, supports the integration of the heavier RM-1 RCWS that accommodates machine guns of up to .338 Norma Magnum calibre. The RCWS can engage infantry and small UAVs with built-in targeting algorithms autonomously.
Small and medium UGVs are envisioned as supporting assets for infantry in the coming years by various means, including logistical support, MEDEVAC, and fire support. These types of UGVs can be carried inside and deployed from APCs and even some helicopters for simultaneous deployment with infantry.
