The American Anduril company presented a new family of Barracuda attack missiles, which consists of the Barracuda-100/250/500 missiles. The company defines its products as, “air-breathing, software-defined expendable Autonomous Air Vehicles”.
Anduril’s missiles are launched from fixed and rotary wing aircraft, land and naval platforms. The Barracuda-100 incorporates a 16 kg warhead and can be launched from AH-64 Apache and AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters, C-130 Hercules/Super Hercules transport aircraft and from ground platforms.
When the Barracuda-100 is launched from a ground platform its maximum range is 110 km, while when launched from an aerial platform the maximum range increases to 157 km.
The Barracuda-250 incorporates a 16 kg warhead and can be launched from F-35A/B/C Lightning II (internal bay), F-15E Strike Eagle, F-18E/F Super Hornet, F-16 Fighting Falcon/ Viper (under wing), from vehicles and from ships. When launched from vehicles and ships, the Barracuda-250 has a maximum range of 278 kilometres, while when launched from fighter jets, the maximum range increases to 370 kilometres.
The Barracuda-500 incorporates a 45 kg warhead and can be launched from F-15E Strike Eagle, F-18E/F Super Hornet and F-16 Fighting Falcon/Viper fighter jets, as well as C-17 Globemaster and C-17 transport aircraft. -130 Hercules/Super Hercules. The Barracuda-500 achieves a maximum range of 926 kilometres.
