KIZILELMA unmanned fighter hit a naval target 120 km away with ROKETSAN’s JET-230 aeroballistic missile developed from the UAV-230 used on the AKINCI UCAV.
KIZILELMA has gained its first stand-off weapon with the test firing of the new JET-230 aeroballistic missile, hitting a naval target 120 km away.
Baykar stated that JET-230 can reach a range of 200+ km, which is thanks to the higher launch speed and possibly altitude compared to UAV-230 launched from AKINCI UCAV (Rated for 150 km).
Additionally, JET-230’s naming implies availability to not only unmanned combat aircraft but also manned combat aircraft like the F-16.
However, this is not the first test firing of JET-230. The new UAV-230 variant was fired from an AKINCI UCAV two years earlier, sharing the same build. This was initially thought of as a refined prototype for UAV-230 with smaller sextuple rear fins and wider control surfaces.
It is expected that the ÇAKIR compact cruise missile with similar range and the internal bay-friendly SOM-J cruise missile will follow as KIZILELMA’s stand-off weapons.
ROKETSAN is also developing the larger 300 ER aeroballistic missile, measuring 370 mm in diameter, as the heavy hitter with a range of 500+ km when fired from fighters. The missile will incorporate a TV seeker (Likely shielded until the terminal phase) to engage prescribed targets.
