Argentinian Personnel Trains With Modernised TAM 2C Tanks

SA Defensa reported that the cadets inspect the modernised TAM 2C fitted with new electronics and sensors. The modernised tanks are designated as TAM 2C A2.

Some of the new components include a new fire control system, a stabiliser for a 105 mm gun, commander/gunner optics, and a panoramic sight system with automatic target tracking capability.

TAM 2C A2 is actually a continuation of TAM medium tank modernisation. The previous modernisation, TAM 2C, included optics and the capability to fire Israeli LAHAT ATGMs from the 105 mm gun.

The tank is one of the few long-standing medium tank examples in service. A second modernisation shows Argentina’s dedication to the platform.

Medium tanks have been dormant since the beginning of the Cold War. However, in the last few years, the idea was revitalised when the need for a more mobile platform to deliver destructive firepower was realised.

With this change and new technologies that have emerged since the medium tank concept's hibernation, Turkiye (with FNSS KAPLAN MT and OTOKAR Tulpar’s corresponding configurations) and the U.S. (M10 Booker or Mobile Protected Firepower) have developed modern iterations of medium tanks.
