ASELSAN’s GÖKBERK Laser Weapon Downs Various UAV Types TurDef

GÖKBERK laser weapon successfully downed a rotary-wing UAV, fixed-wing UAV, and a ducted rotor FPV at ranges beyond one kilometre in the recent firing tests.

The first target, a DJI Phantom UAV, was shot down at a range of 1.5 km despite evasive manoeuvres. A fixed-wing UAV was shot down at a range of 1.2 km with automated target tracking. FPV target’s optic was dazzled before it eventually lost control due to the damage from the laser. This demonstrates GÖKBERK’s precision.

Additionally, the weapon was tested against six millimetres-thick armour plate. The armour plate was quickly pierced at a distance of 600 m.

GÖKBERK’s main components include a laser weapon with optics, AURA 100-G radar, and a KANGAL jammer. AURA 100-G allows for wide-area scans at longer ranges, while the KANGAL jammer allows for soft-kill capabilities in addition to the hard-kill of the laser weapon.

GÖKBERK is a part of the C-UAS layer in the Steel Dome integrated air defence system alongside İHTAR jammer and ŞAHİN C-UAS system using 40 mm airburst grenades.
