ASELSAN’s UGV Platforms Enter the Kars Winter Exercise TurDef

ASELSAN shared images of the two UGVs used in the Kars Winter Exercise, conducted at sub-zero temperatures.

ASLAN is ASELSAN’s Medium-1 class UGV with an electrical drive for various applications. These include patrol, fire support for troopers, and logistics support. The UGV can be fitted with SARP-L RCWS and/or METE 40 mm laser-guided missiles for combat duties. The sensors include fixed cameras, LIDAR, and mast-mounted EO/IR.

ZMA-X is a development of the ACV-15 modernisation package. It converts the modernised ACV-15 AFVs into full-sized combat UGVs with an autonomy kit. The firepower consists of a NEFER remote-controlled turret housing a 25 mm chain gun and a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun. However, considering ASELSAN's ground weapon systems portfolio, new weapon systems are likely to be added to the options.

Similar UGV developments in Turkiye include HAVELSAN’s BARKAN (Similar to ASLAN in layout) and Elektroland HANÇER (Features four-track layout) in Medium-1 class; FNSS Shadow Warrior (Based on M113, allows for hybrid control), Otokar’s ALPAR (Designed from scratch as a heavy UGV), and Hidroan AZMAN (6x6 UGV with flexible suspension and hybrid control) in Heavy class.
