At DSEI 2025 in London, BAE Systems and Oman-based Der'a decided to work together further on AI, autonomous platforms, cyber defence, and battleship support in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.
At the DSEI 2025 show in London, BAE Systems and Oman-based Der'a inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together further on Oman’s military sector and its Vision 2040 national modernisation goal.
The MoU includes a lot of areas relating to military, such as artificial intelligence, autonomous platforms, support and maintenance for warships, cyber security, managing intelligence information, training programs, and changing the defence industry.
The deal builds on a 2024 relationship in which BAE Systems and Der'a began supplying BAE's Nautomate autonomous control solution for difficult maritime operations. Nautomate lets boats do things without people being in danger.
Gabby Costigan, Group Managing Director for Business Development at BAE Systems, said the MoU is "an important commitment to deepen our partnership with Der'a and explore new areas of strategic collaboration that align with Oman's broader defence vision."
Mahfoodh Al Shaikh, Deputy CEO of Der'a, said that the arrangement helps Oman Vision 2040 by moving forward projects in cyber security, updating assets, providing specialist training, and sharing technology and information.
BAE Systems wants to keep making Oman more ready for defence by using modern technology and services that protect the country's sovereignty and security.
