Bayraktar TB2’s UAVs enhanced variant, Bayraktar TB2T-AI, using a turbocharged engine, reached an altitude of 25500 ft in its third flight test.
With the recent test, Bayraktar TB2T-AI has come closer to the operational ceiling goal of 30000+ ft. The turbocharged engine allows for higher operating altitudes, 300 km/h speed, and larger weapons capacity.
It has been estimated from the higher maximum speed that Bayraktar TB2T-AI is powered by an internal combustion engine with a power output of at least 135 hp.
The new variant of Bayraktar TB2 also includes three AI computers for terrain-referenced flight for GNSS independence, automatic runway recognition, and dynamic flight path optimisations.
The increased MTOW might allow Bayraktar TB2T-AI to carry heavier munitions like MAM-T, which the baseline Bayraktar TB2 can not do due to its payload constraints.
