In a previous test, Bayraktar TB2T-AI reached an altitude of 37096 ft. This time, the altitude has been pushed to 40023 ft, which is close to AKINCI UCAV’s record of 45000 ft.
This has been possible thanks to the use of a turbocharged engine with not only more power output but also far less power loss at altitude. In addition to a higher operational ceiling, the new engine allows for a higher climb rate and a maximum speed of 300 km/h.
The higher operational ceiling can allow Bayraktar TB2T-AI to bypass most short-range air defence systems and some of the newly emerged C-UAS loitering munitions like Iran’s 358 missile.
