Otokar presented the medium tank and IFV configurations of its TULPAR tracked AFV to the Brazilian Army officials, which is being offered for the VBC tender.
As a finalist in the Brazilian Army’s VBC tender to acquire new IFVs and light/medium tanks, Otokar [BIST: OTKAR] presented its contending TULPAR variants to the officials at its facilities.
The attending Brazilian Army officials were led by the Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the Brazilian Army, General Francisco Humberto Montenegro.
Otokar stated that TULPAR, in medium tank configuration fitted with HITFACT MKII 120 mm L45 turret and IFV configuration fitted with MIZRAK 30 mm turret, were demonstrated at the testing field of the facility.
TurDef also learned that representatives from Italian Leonardo, providing the HITFACT MKII turret mounted on the TULPAR medium tank, were present during the visit from the Brazilian Army. The presence of a cooperating party for the offer suggests significant progress in discussions.
TULPAR is OTOKAR’s tracked armoured vehicle family available in IFV, medium tank, APC, recovery vehicle, mortar carrier, and air defence variants.
IFV configuration can be fitted with Otokar’s own MIZRAK IFV (25 mm and 30 mm options with new variants having ATGM provision) turrets and SARP 100/35 (KORHAN) 35 mm turret with ATOM airburst ammunition capability.
TULPAR offers two options for the engine: 700 hp or 1100 hp, depending on customer requirements, as the vehicle has a wide gross weight envelope between 28 and 45 tonnes.
The protection can be increased up to STANAG 4569 Level 5 (Resistance against 25 mm APDS ammunition) through add-on armour.
