China has unveiled its new generation stealth fighter jet “J-35A” and displayed a mock-up of the two-seat version of the J-20 aircraft “J-20S” at Zhuhai Airshow.
The 5th generation fighter jet, “J35-A”, developed by China Aviation Industries Corporation (Avic), performed a demonstration flight at Airshow China. Designed as an equivalent to the 5th generation F-35 fighter jets produced by Lockheed Martin of the USA, the “J-35A” was introduced to potential buyers at the World Defence Expo (WDS) held in Saudi Arabia in February.

The “J-20” stealth fighter jets, previously developed by China and claimed to be equivalent to the USA’s “F-22” model fighter jets, were put into service in 2017. The J-20S, displayed as a scale model, represents an advancement in China’s J-20 series and stands out for its electronic warfare role, advanced situational awareness and potential Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) capabilities.
The aircraft can perform defensive duties as a small-sized early warning platform and serve as a target acquisition vehicle in coordinated attacks by unmanned vehicles in offensive missions. The J-20S is displayed alongside advanced Chinese air-to-air missiles, including the PL-10E and PL-15E.
