Spanish Indra exhibited Otokar’s ARMA II 8x8 armoured vehicle with a 105 mm turret during the FEINDEF’25 exhibition held in Spain, signalling a joint work.
TurDef learned that the new generation armoured vehicle ARMA II 8x8, to be fitted with a Spanish Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E) turret, will participate in a tender of the Spanish Army for new fire support vehicles.
While ARMA II in the booth is fitted with a 105 mm turret, Indra and Otokar’s proposed fire support vehicle will use a more powerful 120 mm smoothbore gun. It is known that ARMA II can be fitted with weaponry of up to 120 mm calibre.
This fire support vehicle offer is not the first from Otokar. Recently, Tecnologia & Defesa reported that Otokar participated in the Brazilian Marines’ tender for a new light tank with TULPAR’s light tank configuration using Leonardo’s HITFACT MKII 120 mm L45 turret. Additionally, the Bangladesh-based Defres360 reported that Bangladesh showed interest in the very same vehicle, referencing a statement from the Indian MFA in response to a journalist’s inquiry.
ARMA II 8x8
ARMA II is a development of the ARMA armoured vehicle with increased terrain traversing capabilities, such as 70% vertical slope (%60% for ARMA) and 40% sideway slope (30% for ARMA) climbing limits.
The vehicle’s overall size is also slightly less than that of ARMA II.
ARMA II was first unveiled during the IDEF’23 defence exhibition held in Turkiye, Istanbul. The vehicle’s first display included armoured recovery vehicle and IFV (Fitted with MIZRAK 30 turret) configurations.
The vehicle is also offered with both indigenous and foreign powerpack options rated at 720 hp.
