OTOKAR Unveils 6x6 Medium-2 UGV for Romania at BSDA2026 TurDef

OTOKAR [BIST: OTKAR] unveiled a new 6x6 Medium-2 UGV for Romania, jointly developed with Romanian BlueSpace and Turkish UGV developer Elektroland at the BSDA2026 exhibition.

OTOKAR unveiled a 6x6 UGV for rough terrain as an offer to the Romanian Army during the BSDA2026 defence exhibition held in Romania’s capital, Bucharest. The UGV was developed under a tri-lateral cooperation involving OTOKAR and Elektroland from Türkiye and BlueSpace from Romania.

Elektroland is understood to be responsible for the mechanical design of the UGV’s drivetrain as a firm specialising in flexible wheel systems, which was demonstrated on the identical BOĞAÇ 6x6 UGV. This configuration mainly allows better performance on rough terrain and handling at slope.

It is not a big surprise that OTOKAR’s new UGV takes this approach, considering the overall geography of Romania, consisting of mountainous regions and hills.

The UGV, likely belonging to the Medium-2 class that can mount considerably larger payloads than Medium-1 class ones, but are still smaller than heavy UGVs like OTOKAR’s ALPAR.

The unveiling of a new UGV cooperatively developed with the Romanian industry is another that OTOKAR envisions its cooperation with Romania as something beyond local production. Alongside expanding further into the European market with a Romania-based node, the cooperation with the Romanian industry is set to birth new products that can answer the needs of the European customer profile.
