A high-level delegation from Poland visited ASELSAN facilities to understand unmanned armed surface vehicles better.
Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State and Head of the National Security Bureau from the Ministry of National Defence of Poland, and Marcin Kulasek, Secretary of State from the Ministry of State Assets of Poland, along with their delegation, visited ASELSAN.
The delegation has previously examined unmanned aerial systems at Baykar and TUSAŞ. This time, it received information about unmanned naval systems. The delegation, accompanied by ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol and senior executives from Sefine Shipyard, received information about Marlin AUSV.
Following the visit, Secretary of State Marcin Kulasek wrote on his account that Otokar was also visited.
He added in sum, “The Turkish industry expressed great interest in the systems manufactured in Poland. A significant part of the talks concerned the transfer of technology and the establishment of new production capacities in our country.
From the beginning of this trip, I intended to convince Turkish partners to join forces in our defence industries to develop innovative solutions.
Due to the tight schedule and the large number of meetings, we have decided to return to the most urgent topics with the Turkish industry delegation during the upcoming MSPO in Kielce on September 3-6.
I am very impressed with the level of the Turkish defence industry and am positively inspired by the Turkish side’s interest in cooperating with our companies.
He also said,” At the beginning of the visit, we visited the Selfine shipyards, talked about possible joint projects in the maritime domain, where on the Polish side the natural partner for the Turks is Stocznia Wojenna PGZ. An important part of the visit and talks were also unmanned ships and maritime drones, where we had the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of the latest Selfine production platform, i.e. Marlin USV. Turkish partners are very keen on cooperation with our companies, and it is worth adding that we are discussing strategic, long-term cooperation. Polish defence companies are an attractive partner for the largest defence plants in the world.”
MARLIN, which is the first UAV to enter the Turkish Naval Forces inventory, also stands out as the world’s first unmanned surface vehicle with electronic warfare capability. Marlin also participated in a NATO unmanned naval systems exercise held in Portugal two years ago. MARLIN UAV is equipped with electro-optic, communication, navigation sensors and autonomy-mission computers developed by ASELSAN and integrated into the platform using ASELSAN’s original electronic warfare suite.
