ROK has signed a deal with MBDA to procure 100 meteor air-to-air missiles for KF-21 Boramae jets.
The Republic of Korea's Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has signed a contract with MBDA to purchase 100 Beyond-Visual-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (BVRAAM) Meteor air-to-air missiles for the Republic of Korea Air Force's (ROKAF) KF-21 fighter jets.
On November 1, Yonhap News Agency announced the acquisition of the Meteor missile. These missiles will arrive in time for the fighter jet's operational debut in 2026 and will be critical to the KF-21's combat preparedness.

Korea previously tested a KF-21 prototype carrying a Meteor missile in May 2024. In July, the Republic of Korea commenced the manufacture of 20 units of the advanced domestic fighter jet, with the first delivery to the Air Force expected for late 2026.
The Meteor missile's ramjet engine allows it to achieve a maximum speed of more than Mach 4 and strike targets from 200 kilometres distant.
