Russia Exhibits Hypersonic Missiles in the Mediterranean Sea

Russia test-launched the Tsirkon hypersonic missile, Kalibr cruise missile, and Oniks missile at a naval and air force exercise held in the Mediterranean Sea.

Russian Ministry of Defence on 3 December 2024 stated that the test aimed at the coordinated operations of naval and aerial elements in designated areas of the Eastern Mediterranean. The exercise involved over 1,000 military personnel, ten ships, and 24 aircraft.

This exercise is seen as part of Russia's efforts to strengthen its military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean and enhance maritime security in the region. Regarding recent developments in Syria, there is enough reason to believe Russia wanted to exhibit its military capabilities.
