The latest generation of the weapon will be manufactured in India by the newly registered Saab FFV India. Saab will also collaborate with Indian subcontractors, and the systems produced in the facility will fully meet the requirements of "Make in India."Saab FFV India will use complex technologies such as the latest sighting technology and manufacturing techniques such as carbon fibre winding for the Carl-Gustaf system, including the latest M4 weapon.
Over the years, Saab has collaborated with Indian companies to manufacture parts or components for Saab"s global products. Saab will continue to manufacture the Carl-Gustaf weapon and ammunition in collaboration with Munitions India Limited (MIL) and Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL).
The Carl-Gustaf system has been in service with the Indian Army since 1976 when the first cooperation agreement for production in India was signed.
The Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifle is a man-portable, multi-role weapon system developed for single soldiers to deal with multiple challenges on the modern battlefield.The M4 is capable of firing a variety of ammunition, including anti-armour and illumination rounds, its maximum range is 1,500 meters.
