Thales Ramps Up Ground Fire 300 Radars’ Production TurDef

Thales Ground Fire 300 AESA radar for the French configuration of SAMP/T NG long-range air defence system has entered the continuous series production phase.

Thales announced a ramp-up in the production of the Ground Fire 300 AESA surveillance radar meant for the French configuration of the SAMP/T NG long-range air defence system. The AESA radar has succeeded the Arabel surveillance radar of the baseline SAMP/T.

The French Armed Forces are set to receive eight Ground Fire 300 radars with the start of 2026.

New export customers, one of which is likely Denmark, which recently chose SAMP/T NG over the US-made MIM-104 Patriot, have also contributed to the demand for the updated version of SAMP/T.

In addition to new radars, SAMP/T NG introduces the new Aster 30 Block 1 NT missile, which can reach longer ranges and has increased effectiveness against ballistic missiles (Up to 1500 km range class). The missile with a range of 150 km replaces the old Ku-band seeker with a Ka-band one, which offers improved range and resolution.
