Updated configuration of the GÜRZ 200 gun/missile air defence system was spotted during NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s visit to ASELSAN’s Gölbaşı facility.
The updated configuration of ASELSAN’s comprehensive GÜRZ 200 truck-based air defence system was spotted in a photo released by ASELSAN [BIST:ASELS] regarding Mark Rutte’s visit to the Gölbaşı Facility.
GÜRZ 200’s turret, peeking out from the side in the photo, is seen to have four fixed vertical launchers for GÖKSUR missiles (Derived from BOZDOĞAN WVRAAM) and a separate erector for a quad pod for SUNGUR short-range air defence missiles. However, an interesting detail is that the AKREP 100-G fire control radar is not seen on the turret, which was present in previously shown configurations.
GÜRZ 200 was unveiled during the World Defence Show 2026, in its new configuration, replacing the erector mechanism for GÖKSUR missiles with a vertical launcher to provide instant 360-degree engagement. Additionally, three fixed AESA radars are placed on the truck cabin alongside three smaller arrays, the use of which is not yet known.
GÜRZ 200 combining 35 mm ATOM airburst ammunition on a single autocannon, two types of missiles to cover different targets and ranges (GÖKSUR: 15 km, SUNGUR: 8 km), KANGAL C-UAS jammers, and spherical coverage from AESA radars is designed to provide comprehensive protection for important sites or convoys without deploying multiple platforms, presenting an alternative approach for cases where urgent protection is needed.
On the other hand, the GÜRZ 140 variant being developed for 8x8 armoured vehicles has a slight water-down in firepower with the exclusion of GÖKSUR missiles for another set of four SUNGUR missiles. This variant is understood to be meant for providing a two-way protection for armoured columns.
