US clears $730m sale of AIM-120C-8 missiles to Denmark

The United States has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to Denmark involving 200 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles and associated equipment worth an estimated $730 million, according to the notification sent to Congress by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The package includes three AIM-120C-8 guidance sections as well as a full suite of non-major defence equipment: AMRAAM control sections, containers, support tools, spare parts, consumables, accessories, and repair-and-return services. The sale also covers weapons software, support equipment, classified and unclassified documentation, transportation support and comprehensive engineering, technical and logistics assistance from both the US Government and contractors.

Washington states that the proposed sale will enhance Denmark’s air-defence and air-combat capabilities, strengthening interoperability with US and NATO forces. The State Department describes the equipment and services as essential for sustaining Denmark’s current and future fighter fleet.
