Images recently published on DVIDS show the USMC’s new amphibious UGV, designated as Unmanned Swarming Amphibious Craft, tested during the TCE 25.2 event.
The 1st Marine Logistics Group tested the amphibious tracked UGV during the Technical Concept Experiment 25.2 event held at Pendleton Marine Corps Base Camp.
While no specifications have been given, communication antennas and a flatbed can be seen from the released image.
The image information includes that TCE 25.2 covers the use of unmanned systems in controlled minefield scenarios to gather data on mine and IED detection, neutralisation, marking and reporting.
These hint at logistics support and countering mines/IEDs as the possible missions for the new UGV.
However, weapon carriage should not be ruled out with the emergence of plug-and-play modules to launch loitering munitions or lightweight missiles (Example: PERCH recently tested on M1 Abrams MBT).
