A new release from SAM.gov states that the USAF is looking for stand-in attack weapons to provide rapid strike capabilities for F-47 fighters and B-21 bombers.
SAM.gov release, a “sources sought” type published on the 4th of March 2026, has outlined requirements for a stand-in attack missile that can be deployed by the future F-47 fighter and B-21 strategic bomber in tests.
The requirements include similar or better capabilities compared to the AGM-88J SiAW missile, which is already intended for stealth aircraft starting from the F-35, integration on F-35, F-16, F-47 and B-21, as well as an anti-radiation seeker. The production requirements include 600 missiles per year.
It is not clear yet whether AGM-88J SiAW will be selected or not.
Northrop Grumman’s AGM-88J SiAW is a development of the AGM-88G AARGM-ER anti-radiation missile, intended against a broader set of targets, including AShM/Ballistic Missile launchers and ground-based jammers. While the guidance remains unknown, the missile is expected to have a new warhead design.
Another recent release on SAM.gov made a call for a new anti-radiation missile that surpasses the current line of assigned missiles in terms of range and engages AEW&C aircraft.
