AKINCI Strikes Ground Targets with BOZOK and KAYI-30 TurDef

Baykar’s AKINCI UCAV struck two ground targets with high accuracy using two BOZOK and one KAYI-30 laser/GNSS-guided munitions developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE.

The test announced by Baykar includes consecutive hits on two ground targets using a pair of BOZOK munitions stacked under one pylon, followed by a single KAYI-30.

The two munitions have also been tested from the Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV.

BOZOK

BOZOK, with stubby wings and a weight of 16 kg, can reach a range of 17+ km. The warhead options are available as anti-personnel and hybrid (anti-personnel+anti-armour).

KAYI-30 and KAYI-50

KAYI-30 is a part of the KAYI family of modular munitions with a weight of 24 kg and identical characteristics to BOZOK. The munition carrying a significantly heavier warhead compared to BOZOK can reach a range of 25 km when dropped from platforms like AKINCI UCAV. In addition to a hybrid warhead, KAYI-30 can carry a thermobaric warhead.

The other member of the KAYI family, KAYI-50, with a weight of 45 kg, is right between lightweight glide munitions like MAM-L or BOZOK and heavier ones like MAM-T or KUZGUN. This variant has more noticeable differences, such as high aspect ratio wings for higher glide performance, allowing a range of 30+ km and more importantly IIR seeker option.
