ASELSAN’s ASELFLIR 600 EO/IR, intended for larger UCAVs and other aircraft, has been tested at a distance of approximately 225 km, providing a clear image.

ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol included milestones for ASELFLIR 600 EO/IR system recently tested onboard AKINCI UCAV. The EO/IR is considerably larger and better performing compared to ASELFLIR 500 fielded on Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV, as the successor of CATS, achieved a clear imaging of a facility located 225 km away.

This brings a new level of long-range ISR capability for AKINCI and other platforms that can carry ASELFLIR 600. For reference, 225 km exceeds the range of some stand-off weaponry for AKINCI UCAV, like UAV-230 aeroballistic missile and ÇAKIR compact cruise missile. Clear imaging from such ranges can allow observation and targeting without getting into risky zones. While laser designation is not possible, getting precise GNSS coordinates from these ranges can allow the UCAVs to provide targeting data for the aforementioned stand-off weapons that would otherwise need support from other platforms.

Akyol added that the production for serial deliveries has started for ASELFLIR 600.
