ASELSAN Exports ASELFLIR 500 EO/IR System to 20+ Countries TurDef

ASELSAN has exported the ASELFLIR 500 EO/IR system, which has succeeded CATS, to more than 20 countries, with some of them being NATO members, as of 2025.

ASELFLIR 500, as the new general-use EO/IR mainly intended for UAVs, has seen a rather quick rise in exports following its introduction. The 2025 recap of ASELSAN included that more than 20 countries have signed deals for the EO/IR system, with some of these being NATO members. It would not be a surprise that Poland is among said NATO members, as it is operating the Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV.

ASELFLIR-500 is the successor to the CATS with significant improvements in weight and resolution for all camera types. The new electro-optical system offers a 4096x2880 HD Day Camera, 1280x720 HD IR and SWIR cameras, and a laser designation range of 35 km.

The EO/IR system has been integrated on Bayraktar TB2, Bayraktar TB3, AKINCI, and ANKA-III UAVs.

It should be noted that ANKA-III’s main electro-optical system is more than likely to be TOYGUN EOTS, which not only offers high-performance IR imaging but also conforms to low observability requirements thanks to its fairing. ASELFLIR 500 was integrated on ANKA-III for the tests of LGK-82 and TEBER-82 laser guidance kits from the stealth UCAV.

Likewise, AKINCI’s main EO/IR system is expected to be ASELFLIR 600, offering clear imaging up to a range of 225 km.
