ASELSAN completed the tests of the Low Frequency Active Sonar System (DÜFAS). President of Defence Industry Agency (SSB) Haluk Görgün announced on social media that ASELSAN completed the Low-Frequency Active Sonar System (DÜFAS). Görgün wrote, “DÜFAS Low-Frequency Active Sonar System, an important product of ASELSAN engineering, was developed to detect undersea threats. DÜFAS, which can effectively detect submarines and torpedoes with its 360-degree omnidirectional scanning capability.” ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol stated that the Turkish Naval Forces gained the ability to detect threat submarines without engaging surface ships. DÜFAS System was originally developed in line with the needs of the Naval Forces Command within the scope of the contract signed with the Defence Industry Agency. DÜFAS is a depth-changeable towed active/passive sonar system that detects silent threats underwater, especially submarines, from very long distances. The system stands out as the first and only towed sonar system designed and produced domestically and developed locally and nationally. Targets can be detected and tracked at long range with this system. DÜFAS also provides high-accuracy detection using the continuously active sonar feature in large areas. In passive sonar mode, the system detects threats such as torpedoes by listening to ambient noise. Unlike its counterparts, HIZIR Torpedo Countermeasure components can also be integrated into DÜFAS, and the system recommends to the user the most appropriate countermeasure tactic and ship escape manoeuvres to be applied to eliminate torpedoes fired from enemy platforms. In this way, the system becomes a torpedo countermeasure system that incorporates HIZIR System features and active sonar capability and can offer a complete solution. When a torpedo is detected, the system activates countermeasure equipment and eliminates the threat, allowing a safe escape.
ASELSAN also offers hull sonar FERSAH, mine detection sonar MATESS, passive and active sonar buoys ASELBUOY, torpedo countermeasure systems ZARGANA and HIZIR, as well as software and consoles for overall management. So now the company can offer a complete anti-submarine solution for surface ships and a similar solution for submarines.
