Babcock France has acquired 11 L-39 "Albatros" aircraft from another French company Apache Aviation for its international fighter pilot training academy.
The acquisition will enhance the training and development of French Air Force pilots. The academy, situated on a former military base, will provide programs such as training future fighter pilots, certifying L-39 pilot instructors, retraining qualified fighter pilots, and preparing pilots and advanced controllers (JTAC) for close air support missions.
The L-39 aircraft obtained by Babcock France have previously flown as part of the Breitling Jet Team, the sole civilian aerobatic team globally operating jet aircraft.
