Turkish Baykar and France’s prominent defence firm Safran have inked a strategic cooperation MoU covering work on sensors, weaponry, and navigation systems.
Baykar and Safran have inked a deal that has come as a surprise at SAHA EXPO 2026, which covers the integration of Safran’s payloads as well as joint development of sensors, weaponry, and navigation systems.
The joint developments will be supported with a joint promotion of the two firms’ solutions.
Safran stated that the cooperation plans include the integration of Euroflir EO/IR systems on the Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV.
Judging from the inclusion of weaponry alongside others, the cooperation might also see the integration of Safran’s munitions, like AASM Hammer guided bomb, on Baykar’s heavier platforms or joint developments similar to KEMANKEŞ turbojet-powered loitering munition.
With this cooperation, it can be said that Baykar has formed another significant node in the European market alongside the LBA Systems JV formed with Leonardo. Both cooperations are partly aimed at providing more EU-appealing solutions using payloads or integrated systems from the region's main providers.
