The development occurred exclusively in Italy and focused on improving reliability, ergonomics, effectiveness and modularity. In addition, the signature reduction should be optimized. NARP stands for New Assault Rifle Platform.
The NARP assault rifle family is designed as a gas pressure loader with a short-stroke gas piston system and a rotating head breech. Weapons with a calibre of 5.56 mm x 45 were presented at DSEI, and further versions are to follow.
The weapon can be optionally equipped with a folding or telescopic shoulder rest. The light metal housing has a Picatinny rail at the 12 o'clock position that runs the entire length of the rifle housing for mounting optics and optronics.
All weapon functions can be operated with both right or left hands and have an adjustable gas release for regular and silencer operation. When empty, a NARP with a 14.5" barrel weighs around 3,200 g.
