Turkish firearms manufacturer CANiK has been selected to supply 200 M2 QCB heavy machine guns for the Brazilian Army, outperforming its competitors.

According to a report by JANE’s, CANiK secured the contract by surpassing prominent rivals such as FN Herstal, US Ordnance, and Ohio Ordnance Works in the tender process. The company will deliver 200 M2HB Quick Change Barrel (QCB) heavy machine guns, chambered in 12.7×99 mm NATO standards, under a contract valued at approximately $3.1 million. A Brazilian Army Logistics Command team is expected to conduct a technical visit to CANiK in March 2025.

The tender, issued on 18 September 2024 by the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington on behalf of the Logistics Command, sought to acquire 200 M2HB QCB heavy machine guns.

These weapons will be integrated into remote-controlled and manually operated weapon stations such as the ARES REMAX 3 and WE Platt MR550. Additionally, they will be mounted on platforms like the Guarani 6×6 and Guaicurus 4×4 armoured vehicles.

CANiK’s M2 QCB model stood out due to its modular design, quick barrel-change feature, high durability, and user-friendly operation. The machine guns will be compatible with both remote-controlled and manual weapon systems, enhancing their operational versatility.

CANiK has also been strengthening its presence in Brazil through a partnership with Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBA), aiming to establish an official representation for retail and wholesale firearm sales in the country.

CANiK and SYS Group companies increased their exports from $136 million in 2023 to $172 million in 2024, demonstrating consistent growth in export performance and underlining their commitment to delivering high-tech and value-added products.
