F-16 ÖZGÜR Drops LGK-82 and LGK-84 Bombs

A Turkish F-16 fighter with ÖZGÜR modernisation hit its target with LGK-82 and LGK-84 laser-guided smart bombs. F-16 ÖZGÜR fitted with indigenous mission computers dropped the guided bombs from an altitude of 15000 ft. This year, the F-16 ÖZGÜR programme marked a significant milestone with the successful integration of the MURAD AESA radar. This advanced radar system will enhance the aircraft's capabilities, providing onboard air-to-air, air-to-ground, SAR, and electronic warfare capabilities. LGK is a series of guidance kits manufactured by ASELSAN for 250 lb Mk81, 500 lb Mk82, 1000 lb Mk83, and 2000 lb Mk84 general purpose bombs (GPB). The kit provides laser, GPS, and INS guidance capabilities to the bomb it is fitted on. LGK has been tested from F-16 and AKINCI UCAV. ANKA Armed UAV was also displayed with LGK-81 during TEKNOFEST 2023 İzmir, hinting at integration works. Within the framework of the ÖZGÜR Project, national ammunition, electro-optical systems and avionics will be integrated into the F-16 warplanes. The national mission computer and operational flight software developed for this purpose were integrated into the F-16. In addition to these components, several critical avionics systems entered the Turkish Air Force inventory together with the F-16 ÖZGÜR aircraft. Turkiye had requested 79 F-16 Block 70 modernisation kits from the USA. With the ÖZGÜR Project, all remaining F-16s will be modernised to Block ÖZGÜR level.
